Ok, I did a little research an maybe this could be interesting for the people:
GD32F103xxx plain chips can be bought normally at aliexpress or ebay. There are no ready made boards till yet.

For dev boards there are less opportunities:
taobao (relative complicated to order and only economic for larger quantities)
After some googeling I found this: http://www.cart100.com/Product/43196369961/
This should be the dev board Roger uses and if you are going to buy 4 or more you only pay 3.84USD/pcs. Disclaimer: I have never ordered at cart100.

I’ve changed the BBS settings to allow document attachments.

So here is a PDF I have for that board.

Note. I’m not doing any special backups on the forum, so any documents posted here are not guaranteed to be backed up permanently, so if you really need this file, please keep a local copy

About $2.50 from TaoBao,

But of course you have to pay for shipping etc

I suspect that the AliExpress guys could sell for $5 or $6 and make a profit including postage, as I think they get a special deal with China Post etc

I bought some of these chips GD32F103RET6:
http://world.tmall.com/item/43536736063.htm?

They could be used as a direct replacement for STM32 chip on RET6 board, I guess..
Still wait for them to arrive..

They certainly look to be a good deal, but I couldnt not work out the shipping cost

The basic stuff seems to work on GD32, but I have not managed to get SPI working yet. SPI appears to be sending the correct data, but It didnt work with my ILI9341 display. However I could be doing something really stupid with the wiring rather than it being a real problem.

I have been digging around on Taobao for a while, searching for GD32F chips.
Finally, I found a seller which claims to be GigaDevice authorized seller (others said they were out-of-stock, blah-blah, or they sent me STM32 versions :( ). The domestic shipping fee is quite high ($3.56)
Here are some links:
GD32F103CBT6 ($1.18) – http://world.taobao.com/item/41798778874.htm
GD32F103VET6 ($2.35) – http://world.taobao.com/item/41842412792.htm
GD32F103RGT6 $2.67) – http://world.taobao.com/item/41842376553.htm

I bought a few of these chips (wait for them to arrive), plan to do brain surgery on some STM32 boards, or build new boards..
