Now we should call the mini “extended port expander for STM32”

I was thinking Hanz and Franz and Dana Carvey and Arnold. They know that you need an stm32 to pump it up.

The nice thing about the Nano is the USB port stsys w/ the project. It can be used to power the project with the cheap AC-USB chargers or just left in case the code ever needs refreshing … or, dump diags/logging to the USB … user never needs to know.
