I hope pricing will still be low and fast delivery date, hoping modules will appear on eBay soon.
i wonder if they are pin compatible with the esp8266
If so, it would be possible to reflow on onto an existing module / PCB
Have they released data sheets yet? I dont see any official info on their site as yet.
I don’t think there is much released yet.
There is a new forum site just been opened, almost empty : http://esp32.com/forum
The chips won’t be compatible as described above, they are 40 pins instead of 32 pins, more GPIOs, and probably hardware I2C.
Shame the are not pin compatible, it will take longer for the existing low cost manufacturers to tool up for the new device.
or if you prefer..

Been on the ESP Forum for more than a year, with even more posts on ESP than STM32 forums, I’m really anxious with this ESP32 news !

Glad to see you here on STM32Duino forum, I’m used to see you on ESP forum …
(Still, even on ESP forum, you were quiet since awhile)
About ESP32, I’m just try to gather infos form every places.
Maybe the QFN40 is wrong. According to picture your provided, yes, it looks more QFN48.
BTW, where this picture comes from ? Is it one of your design ? Are you Early-Beta-Tester ?
You already speak about ESP64, are you an “insider”? ![]()
I apologize for calling this new product as a new generation. I just used the same title found in HackAday
I believe that this new product was thought as a standalone product instead ESP8266 was thought working with a micro. So it is a new gereration for people that use a standalone ESP8266 but for people that need a wifi access for his product or MCU the ESP8266 is a better choice.

Where are you ?

I’m in Canada
Jokes apart, I’ve read this thread, I’ve even sent an email to “[email protected]“, but I’ve never got answer, neither with “esp32.com” signin.
I’ve never heard about ESP64, is it another product in their pipeline ?
have you seen in spam folder? Martin try again.
Clicking there doesn’t send me email too, so their email server is not working properly …
i am sure – will post next time in stm32 category too.
Hi Rudi
No worries
We talk about other things. OffTopic is the best place for a thread about something else
I know that many people who use STM32 also use ESP8266, and there are many wifi devices that also contain STM32 (Spark Photon and the EMW3165 – and probably many more )
So there is a lot of similarities between all of this.
I’m personally quite interested in ESP8266 and also Bluetooth, as I am experimenting with the Nordic nRF51822 BLE device at the moment using Arduino.
So it looks like the new ESP device will partially replace some of the things where I would use the nRF51822. However unless the ESP32 has a special low power BLE mode, I don’t think it will replace the nRF51822 for all applications, it will only replace applications where you need Wifi and BLE (but there are many such applications)
Will the ESP32 be the ESP8266’s Worthy Successor?
Michael
I’ve tried to become on of the 200 beta users back in November, but unfortunately, there was a lineup, and they run out of units.
Back in late December, when users got their unit, I posted “I feel like a children crying under the Christmas tree because no gift for me”
