I assume most of you won’t care as you’re already way past the my skill-level and you already have real oscilloscopes, but I stumbled upon something interesting as I was browsing eBay: an STM32F103C8 – based oscilloscope DIY-kit at
http://www.ebay.com/itm/262125506660?_t … EBIDX%3AIT
I thought it looked fun: I’ll get some more exercise at soldering, I can study how it works and I get an actually useful device in my toolkit. What’s not to like?
While at it I also happened upon a single, cheap STM32F103ZET6 – board with a helluva lot of IO-pins and bought that one, too — judging by the price it must have been some sort of a leftover board and they just wanted to get rid of it quick or something. I just don’t yet have even the slightest idea of what I would wanna use it for..

This image is soo cute …
Back to the subject : The price of those DSOs are pretty normal, it is not to reduce their inventory, all vendors have pretty much the same pricing.
I’m tempted to get one, but I would prefer better bandwidth. (I still use my old CRT scope, and I can’t afford purchasing a Rigol DSO)

I have a board that looks identical, and the USB works fine, including using the bootloader

I bought a DSO138 months ago. It is not difficult to mount it.
The original seller is this one
http://www.jyetech.com/Products/LcdScope/e138.php
But there are some clones.
They are improving firmware
http://www.jyetech.com/Products/LcdScop … es_138.php
but I don’t know if they works in clones.
I have a clone because I discovered jytech some month after I bought my kit.

I got that STM32F103ZET6 – board today and just briefly tested it. The board looks kind of dull and it was pretty much covered in flux, but it seems work perfectly out-of-the-box — once I uploaded a blinky – sketch the USB enumerates fine, the LED blinks and such. Didn’t need to replace the pull-up resistor for the USB. There’s a 1A 3.3V voltage reg on-board, reset and boot0 – buttons and fucking shitton of I/O-pins. Aside from the nasty gunk it’s covered in it seems a good board.
The DIY oscilloscope – kit should be arriving within the next few days, possible by tomorrow. I’ll finally get to play with, then

I have one of those and it worked fine. (There should be a bootloader for it, which matches the LED pin – but I can’t remember off the top of my head what pin the LED is on

It’s called “STM32F103ZETMini?” I didn’t know that. If that’s the moniker it goes by then I suppose it’s good to know it now.
The only markings I can find, aside from the pin-names and such, say “STM32F10X-144PIN V8.5” It’s also not very “mini,” IMHO.

(Lol)
Ah…
Then there are 2 boards, which are both called exactly the same name
The board I have is this one https://world.taobao.com/item/41867070778.htm (original data is here http://www.vcc-gnd.com/read.php?tid=372&fid=6)
Good job I prepend the manufacturer to the name I used in the wiki, i.e vcc-gnd.com-STM32F103ZETMini
Any idea who makes yours ?
As soon as we can give it a meaningful name, I can upload the image to the wiki (assuming you are OK with that)

I can’t find who ACOSUN are, but the same board is listed on a load Chinese websites as the C144 so I think I better call it a C144-STM32F103ZET

I’ve added the board to the Wiki

BTW. Do you know if that tubular component (bottom right of the board) is the 32khz crystal. I suspect it is, and runs the RTC

OK, I think it must be a 32khz crystal. The only way to know is to put an oscilloscope on one side of it (I find only one side of the crystal can be measured without it stopping oscillating, so sometimes I have to try both sides , individually, to get a reading)
There is a probably a technical name for the tubular shape package but I don’t know what it is;-)

@WereCatf
did it come with the headers already soldered in?
hoping you say yes as wiring that orientation up, you’d be a 7474
i’ve only ever seen shields and lcd/tft etc with pins pointing down.

WereCatf,
You seem to be quite young. We old timers did use the TI 74 series to build our own hardware. The 7474 is the D-flip flop “memory”.

i was suggesting that you’d be flip flopping the board looking at the silk screen and the pin to connect to.
dependent on the tad level less than 2, it’s a factor of 2.
actually i find my thoughts process like i’m 20-30 and then if i would like to do something, then my brain reviews the list of limitations to what i can do … … …

I wrote to Jyetek a couple of days ago and just received a reply: they are planning to release a new, improved DIY-kit with support for two simultaneous channels by the end of this year! No idea if the new kit will use an STM32 like the current one does, but I suppose they could go with one of the newer ones since they already have in-house experience with STM32’s. The e-mail also mentions that they will try and see if they can document better how it all works.
